Beberapa negara Eropa dilaporkan telah tutup misi diplomatik di Turki atas kekhawatiran terjadinya serangan pasca penistaan Al Quran di Swedia, Belanda dan Denmark.
Kementerian Luar Negeri telah memanggil utusan dari sembilan negara, termasuk yang telah menutup misi diplomatik mereka di Turki, kata sumber diplomatik, Kamis.
Sumber mencatat bahwa duta besar dan perwakilan AS, Belanda, Swedia, Swiss, Inggris, Jerman, Belgia, Prancis, dan Italia dipanggil ke kementerian di Ankara untuk menyampaikan reaksi Turki.
Kementerian tersebut mengingatkan para diplomat bahwa Turki memastikan keamanan semua misi diplomatik di negara tersebut sejalan dengan perjanjian internasional dan bahwa tindakan simultan semacam itu bukanlah pendekatan yang proporsional dan bijaksana, dan hanya melayani agenda berbahaya kelompok teroris.
Para diplomat diberitahu bahwa Ankara mengharapkan sekutu dan negara-negara sahabat untuk bekerja sama dengan pasukan keamanan Turki terkait masalah tersebut.
Pada hari Kamis, lima konsulat, termasuk Jerman, Prancis, Belanda, Belgia, dan Inggris ditutup dengan alasan dugaan ancaman keamanan.
Menteri Dalam Negeri Süleyman Soylu mengecam langkah tersebut, mengatakan bahwa itu merupakan “perang psikologis” pada saat pendapatan pariwisata Turki meningkat.
Outlet media Turki juga melaporkan bahwa Sekolah Menengah Prancis Pierre Loti di Istanbul akan ditutup pada Kamis dan Jumat, melaporkan pesan kepada orang tua siswa dengan alasan “alasan terkait keamanan.”
Konsulat Belgia juga akan tetap tutup pada hari Jumat sementara tidak jelas apakah Konsulat Inggris akan dibuka kembali pada hari Jumat.
Soylu menolak klaim mereka tentang “ancaman keamanan.” Ia menyebut operasi kontraterorisme Turki yang berhasil.
Soylu mengatakan antara awal Januari dan Kamis saja, Turki melakukan sebanyak 60 operasi melawan Daesh dan menahan 95 orang.
Tahun lalu, hampir 2.000 tersangka Daesh ditahan dalam lebih dari 1.000 operasi terhadap kelompok tersebut.
Awal pekan ini, Kementerian Dalam Negeri mengatakan pihak berwenang Turki telah menahan sejumlah tersangka menyusul peringatan dari “negara sahabat”, tetapi tidak menemukan senjata, amunisi, atau tanda-tanda tindakan kekerasan yang direncanakan.
